Becky Becker was selected as an Artist in Residence by our first and second grade teachers to do two week-long residencies in Puppetry. Our teachers were very pleased with Becky's work with our students! Becky easily established a strong rapport with our students, giving each one opportunities to be engaged and successful. With much kindness and patience, she gave the students a variety of hands-on experiences with different types of puppets, including ones representing other countries and cultures. Becky demonstrated how puppets can be made with almost anything. She was well-prepared and organized everyday.

Becky is a pleasure to work with. Her kind spirit radiates in her lessons. She conducted a one-week residency that focused on our first and second grades and our exceptional learners. Becky was amazing with our exceptional learners. She created lessons for them that were fun and challenging. The week culminated in a puppet show of the African tale, "Why Mosquitos Buzz in People's Ears." She used audience participation and had several of our students on stage with her manipulating the puppets. The show ended with a parade of puppets through our cafeteria. Becky's love of her art form is evident in the caring and thoughtful way she works. I can't wait to get her back to our school. |
